Building and construction work is underway on your project in Uganda
Thank you for supporting this Infrastructure project to build suitable learning environments across three child development centres in Uganda. Once completed, these new facilities will provide the opportunity for more than 1,600 Compassion assisted children and their families to concentrate on their education.
“Construction work across the three child development centres is progressing well and showing promising results toward improving learning spaces for youth and children. At UG0563, a five-classroom block is underway, managed by a dedicated committee overseeing the process. Despite obstacles like rising material costs and water shortages, construction has been moving steadily. Once completed, over 634 children and caregivers are expected to benefit from these new facilities.
At UG0218, three classrooms have been successfully completed with roofing, painting, and interior finishes fully in place. This intervention originally faced major infrastructure challenges, however, the team was able to expand the project scope to include plumbing and electricity—enhancements not part of the initial budget. Though heavy rains made access roads slippery and water was scarce at times, strong teamwork between church leaders, staff, and caregivers enabled the project’s completion. More than 1,200 individuals stand to benefit directly from these new spaces.
Construction at UG0638 is ongoing, with steady progress through foundational and structural phases for a children’s hall. Works already completed include walling, roofing, floor installation, and fitting of windows and doors. Remaining tasks such as plastering, painting, gutter installation, and floor curing are scheduled for completion soon. Even with weather challenges—especially extreme sun leading to water shortages—the team has kept the momentum going. Once finished, this space will cater to over 600 beneficiaries, including children, youth, caregivers, and church members.
Despite varied challenges, all three child development centres have shown commitment to collaboration and problem-solving. This Infrastructure project is setting the stage for improved curriculum delivery, safe spaces for meals and ministry, and more meaningful engagement in child development activities. The new classrooms are expected to boost spiritual growth, cognitive development, and social interaction among participants, and this experience will serve as a useful blueprint for future infrastructure projects, ensuring long-term sustainability and deeper ministry impact in the community.
